Zimbabwe is considered to be one of the last places where the current small population of painted dogs - about 700 animals - might stand a chance at thriving.
A major threat to this endangered species is vehicle collisions. In addition to their research and training for graduate students, biologists, and rangers, the Painted Dog Research Trust is working with Columbus Zoo graphic designer, Ed Buns, to address this threat by creating road signs to increase driver awareness in areas of high wildlife collisions.  Â
