The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s Teen Eco Summit

November 7 & 8 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Conservation can be supported at any age, which is why The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium hosts the Teen Eco Summit program for the next generation of leaders!

The Teen Eco Summit is held in November at The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and will host over 200 students as they prepare Conservation Action Plans for their schools and communities. Global experts will talk about conservation, sustainability, and leadership, and students will work with peers from around Ohio to brainstorm potential solutions to real world conservation problems.

This program continues throughout the year with participants connecting with community partners to learn vital skills that will help their projects, the ability to apply for grant funding, and touch points with the Teen Eco Summit team. The Summit concludes in the spring with a celebration event.

Student teams can apply to participate in the Teen Eco Summit until October 1.  Applications will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis. Teams should apply as soon as possible to secure a spot, as space is limited. The Zoo will notify your team of its status by October 6.

How To Apply

Create your team.

Teams must consist of 4-7 students, must select a captain, and must include a school staff member to act as the team advisor. If your school intends on bringing more than one team, each team will need to work on separate projects and will need to submit separate applications.

Identify conservation/sustainability projects for your school or community.

Make a list of potential projects. For example, could your school plant a garden or start a recycling program? Decide on your team’s highest priority. Write a description of how it will help the school become more environmentally friendly.

Use the application below to join us.

We look forward to working with each team to create an environmentally-friendly future.
