Spanning across 43 acres, Heart of Africa is the Zoo’s largest region to date.

As you walk through the portal, you’ll be transported with the sights and sounds of the Mudiwa Village all around you. Hear the rhythmic drumming pulsing through the plaza and the buzz of a busy marketplace.

Journey through Heart of Africa while African lions nap in the shade, a cheetah sprints around the Watering Hole, and zebras, wildebeests, and gazelles roam across the savanna. Watch the lively vervet monkeys play in Jack’s Camp, then stand in wonder as giraffes provide a majestic silhouette as the sun begins to set.

This region's newest addition, Masai giraffe calf, Charlie, will be on the savanna this coming year when the weather allows.

Spring has sprung!
Throughout mid-to-late March, the savanna animals will be slowly moved from their winter housing to their outdoor habitats.
